John Holevas, MD
John Holevas, MD, was born at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, and it did not take long for his career aspirations to lead him back to the hospital. "I have always had an interest in science and interacting with people," Dr. Holevas said. "I chose internal medicine because it would allow me to have long-term relationships with my patients and help them throughout their lives."
Dr. Holevas says he likes to center his practice around disease prevention, as well as maintenance of ongoing health issues. "I am particularly interested in treating patients with elevated cholesterol, elevated blood pressure and diabetes," he explained. "Developing lasting relationships with my patients allows me to help them throughout their lives."
Dr. Holevas is a member of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society and the American College of Physicians. He is certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for diabetes and stroke management. And, Charlotte Magazine selected him as a Top Doctor, a designation that comes from positive reviews from colleagues and patients alike.
Outside of work, Dr. Holevas enjoys spending time with his wife and his son. "All of us love to travel and watch movies," he said. "And my son and I like to play basketball and chess together." He carries his love of spending time with family over from his parents, Greek immigrants who taught him how to speak Greek fluently. While English is his primary language, Dr. Holevas keeps his Greek skills sharp and considers it his second language.
